Advertising in a world of algorithms
I just watched this new TED talk by a guy named ‘Kevin Slavin’ and it blew my mind a little. Especially his Netflix example, because this sparked a thought about a part of the future of advertising. Here we go …
When Netflix’s recommendation engine/algorithm is not trying to show you what you might like in general, but what you like to watch next, the target of...

The Future of Facebook
Here is my prediction. Not really a positive one, but hey ;)
Here we go: I think Facebook will become the back-end of our entire digital life. And because our life will be drivin by things digital, it will become our login to nearly everything.

Of course there are many parts of life where...
Why the App trend is also a bad thing:
On April 3rd, Apple is releasing the iPad. It’s a huge version of the iPod touch that might revolutionize how a whole generation of 50+ and kids is experiencing the Internet.
Let’s take my mom for instance; she doesn’t really need a “real” computer, the only things she is doing on her laptop are surfing the web, writing e-mails and maybe follow a person or two on Twitter. Fact is her laptop is...
It should hurt a little
I had this talk with my dad the other day about why ice hockey has such a hard time becoming popular in Germany and is so far away from reaching a status like football (some call it soccer). We figured out it’s actually a very simple fact. Germany has a huge “Stammtischkultur” (let’s call it roundtable culture in English). Which basically means, Germans love to meet for a...
